Compensation Package
Salary: QAR 8,000 per month
The Role
The Project Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure the timely completion of all phases of civil and EPC projects. This role requires close coordination with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to support effective project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Development & Management
- Develop and maintain the overall project master schedule, including detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Create comprehensive planning frameworks that integrate all project phases and activities
- Establish baseline schedules and maintain version control throughout project lifecycle
Progress Monitoring & Control
- Monitor project progress systematically, identifying critical path activities and potential delays
- Conduct regular schedule updates based on actual progress and field conditions
- Track milestone achievements and flag deviations from planned timelines
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and issue various planning reports including progress reports, S-curves, and look-ahead schedules
- Generate accurate and timely project status updates for stakeholders
- Develop visual representations of project progress and forecasts
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction departments to gather data and update schedules
- Facilitate communication between project teams to ensure alignment on timelines and deliverables
- Support resource allocation planning across multiple project phases
Analysis & Forecasting
- Conduct schedule analysis and earned value management (EVM) to provide accurate forecasts for project completion
- Perform what-if scenario analysis to assess impact of potential changes
- Generate performance metrics and trend analysis for project controls
Problem Resolution
- Identify and analyze schedule variances, recommending corrective actions to the Project Manager
- Troubleshoot and resolve construction-related issues impacting project timelines
- Develop recovery plans and mitigation strategies for schedule delays
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in project planning and scheduling
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Qatar or GCC countries
- Strong background in EPC projects within oil & gas, petrochemical, or infrastructure sectors
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 (essential)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project (essential)

- Experience with progress measurement and reporting techniques
- Familiarity with EPC project delivery processes
