Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimation Engineer to join our dynamic oil and gas division in Al-Khor, Qatar. Location: Al-Khor, Qatar (80% office-based, 20% field work)
Reporting Structure: Direct reporting to Estimation Manager/Division Head
Experience Level: Senior (10+ years required)
About the Role
As a key member of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in delivering accurate cost estimations and innovative engineering solutions across diverse oil and gas projects. Your expertise will drive project efficiency and cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance with international industry standards.
Project Focus Areas
- Greenfield and brownfield developments
- Plant turnaround operations
- Tank rehabilitation projects
- Complex mechanical installations
- Process optimization initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Analysis
- Develop comprehensive mechanical cost estimates for complex oil and gas projects
- Analyze technical specifications and engineering drawings to determine project scope
- Create detailed cost breakdowns and budget proposals for stakeholder presentations
- Evaluate project timelines, material requirements, and labor allocation
Technical Leadership
- Provide expert guidance on plant maintenance strategies
- Oversee heat exchanger management and catalyst replacement programs
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Support engineering modifications and process improvements
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement specialists
- Participate in strategic project planning sessions
- Provide technical input for vendor selection and equipment specifications
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management
Continuous Improvement
- Maintain current knowledge of market trends and industry developments
- Contribute to the enhancement of estimation tools and methodologies
- Stay updated with regulatory requirements and compliance standards
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical estimation experience in oil and gas industry
- Demonstrated success in both greenfield and brownfield project environments
Technical Expertise
- Proven track record in plant maintenance and turnaround operations
- Extensive knowledge of heat exchanger systems and catalyst management
- Strong foundation in mechanical design principles and engineering standards
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
