About the Role

The Senior Finance Manager / Deputy CFO will oversee the organization’s finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, effective financial management, and strategic business support. Acting as the CFO’s deputy, this role involves both strategic leadership and hands-on financial oversight, ensuring financial systems, processes, and controls operate effectively across all entities.

This position plays a pivotal role in managing financial performance, supporting capital projects, and maintaining fiscal discipline across the company and its subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

>> Financial Management & Reporting

>> Oversee all financial transactions and ensure compliance with internal control frameworks.

>> Prepare management accounts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.

>> Produce annual financial statements and audit-ready schedules.

>> Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.

>> Maintain the integrity and reliability of all financial systems and feeder platforms.

>> Strategic Support & Business Partnership

>> Deputize for the Chief Financial Officer during absences.

>> Support the CFO in implementing strategic financial decisions and annual budgets.

>> Collaborate with department heads to review financial performance and develop action plans.

>> Develop and report on financial KPIs and cost optimization strategies.

>> Provide financial insights to support business development and investment decisions.

>> Team Leadership & Development

>> Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure operational excellence.

>> Manage and appraise direct reports, identifying growth and training opportunities.

>> Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and collaboration.

Policy & Compliance

>> Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks.

>> Ensure compliance with IFRS standards and local regulatory requirements.

>> Oversee statutory filings and ensure accurate and timely reporting.

>> Update and enforce the organization’s Accounting and Finance Manuals.

>> Treasury & Cash Management

>> Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to manage liquidity.

>> Monitor working capital and ensure efficient cash utilization.

>> Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions.

>> Oversee treasury operations and optimize funding structures.

Audit & Risk Management

>> Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.

>> Ensure timely completion of audits and address all audit findings.

>> Support the CFO in maintaining and updating the corporate risk register.

>> Ensure compliance with risk management frameworks and internal audit recommendations.

Systems & Process Improvement

>> Oversee the development and optimization of financial systems and ERP platforms.

>> Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancement.

>> Integrate finance systems with organizational IT infrastructure.

>> Ensure data accuracy, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Management

>> Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, auditors, and banks.

>> Provide strategic financial advice and reports to executive leadership.

>> Represent the Finance Department in internal and external meetings.

Health, Safety & Environment

>> Ensure departmental compliance with HSE policies.

>> Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

>> Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.

>> Professional qualification required: ACCA, CA, CIMA, or ICAEW (or equivalent international qualification).

Experience

>> 5–8 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 2–3 years in a senior management capacity.

>> Proven track record in financial management, reporting, and leadership roles.

>> Prior experience working in multi-entity or group structures.

>> Strong background in ERP or accounting systems implementation.

Technical Competencies

>> Deep understanding of IFRS and global accounting standards.

>> Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.

>> Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.

>> Strong knowledge of internal controls and audit processes.
