About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join the finance team and manage the financial operations of a dynamic freight forwarding and logistics business. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial decision-making across multi-regional operations.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with global operations teams and gain hands-on experience in freight, logistics, and trade finance.
Key Responsibilities
>> Financial Accounting & Reporting
>> Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
>> Manage accounts receivable and payable processes to ensure timely transactions.
>> Process invoices, expense reports, and general ledger entries.
>> Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and financial ledgers monthly.
>> Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
>> Freight & Logistics Accounting
>> Manage accounting for ocean freight, air freight, and multimodal transportation costs.
>> Oversee revenue recognition and cost allocation for trade lanes.
>> Validate and process shipping documentation such as Bills of Lading and Commercial Invoices.
>> Coordinate with operations teams to ensure accurate freight charge recording.
>> Maintain records for foreign exchange transactions and currency conversions.
>> Tax Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
>> Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations.
>> Prepare and file VAT returns, tax submissions, and related documentation.
>> Coordinate with auditors and consultants during audits and compliance reviews.
>> Handle customs-related documentation and duty calculations.
>> Cost Management & Analysis
>> Monitor and analyze operational and overhead costs.
>> Prepare cost analysis and profitability reports by trade lane or project.
>> Support budget preparation and variance analysis.
>> Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial efficiency.
>> Accounts Management & Collections
>> Manage customer credit terms and oversee collections.
>> Process payments, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain aging reports.
>> Coordinate with the sales team regarding client credit limits and payment schedules.
>> Manage vendor payments and maintain strong supplier relationships.
>> Financial Systems & Controls
>> Maintain accurate financial data in ERP and accounting software.
>> Implement internal controls to ensure financial integrity and prevent discrepancies.
>> Support system enhancements and automation initiatives.
>> Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping of financial transactions.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
>> Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
>> Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
>> 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the logistics or freight forwarding industry.
Technical Skills
>> Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems).
>> Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
>> Strong understanding of IFRS and local accounting standards.
>> Familiarity with shipping documentation, freight charges, and logistics cost structures.
